The Division of Hematology/Oncology offers an exciting and stimulating program in hematology and medical oncology that leads to board eligibility in both subspecialties. We prepare fellows for careers in academic medicine, which may encompass the clinical or basic sciences related to cancer and blood diseases.

The division is part of the Department of Medicine at The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and our faculty members all have joint appointments in the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. The fellowship is integrated into the educational program of the Department of Medicine, which has a long history of excellence in patient care and clinical teaching. The Cancer Center coordinates cancer research, treatment, and education at Northwestern University, and its membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network provides opportunities for cancer research on a national level in collaboration with leading institutions in this country and abroad.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH), the major teaching hospital of the Feinberg School, is a large, private, not-for-profit institution and is a leading referral center in the Midwest.  Feinberg Pavilion, which opened in 1999, features inpatient and outpatient pavilions, and provides a state-of-the-art facility for the study and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. The patients and faculty at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center and Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, as well as the other member hospitals of the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, help provide a broad and diverse experience that makes this fellowship unique, rewarding, and stimulating.

We hope to answer your questions about our program in the following pages, and we welcome your consideration of Northwestern for your postgraduate education.
