Welcome to the Department of Medicine, Faculty Affairs (DOM FA) website! 

This site is designed to assist division administrators, staff, and faculty with appointment processes for the Department of Medicine.  It contains a page devoted to each appointment type--regular faculty, research faculty, research staff, and postdoctoral fellows--offering the information, forms, and resources necessary to successfully complete appointment actions ranging from new appointments to promotions to terminations.  New features include simplified appointment checklists, tips for completing forms, estimated timelines for appointment processes, and templates for items such as the pre-search ad.  Visit this site regularly to view updated information on appointment processes.  If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for improving this website, please contact the DOM FA staff. 


About us

The DOM Faculty Affairs serves as the Division's liaison to the Feinberg School of Medicine's Faculty Affairs Office, the Medical Staff Administration (or Medical Staff Office), and the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.  Divisions work with their candidates to collect all the items necessary for specific appointments and then submit the complete paperwork to the DOM Faculty Affairs staff for review, approval by the Department Chair, and management of the appointment process.

In response to your feedback and to changes in Northwestern's appointment processes, this site is being updated with new content and features.  Check here regularly for content highlights and to become aware of important changes being made to the site.

Mandatory Process Changes

  • Use the new 2009 Postdoctoral Fellow Appointment Form available on our Postdoctoral Fellows page.
  • View the new guidelines and resources for soliciting reference letters for faculty appointments available on our Referee Guidelines page.
  • Obtain newly revised offer letter templates from our Offer Letters page.
  • Our Faculty Recruitment page has been revised substantially and now includes information and resources for conducting faculty searches and sending out offer letters.  It also discusses NU's new tenure track faculty recruitment process.
