Senior Dinner Recognizes Excellence

Last June, the Department of Medicine held its annual Senior Dinner for the 2007 graduating residents. The event was held at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Chicago. During the dinner, it is the Department’s tradition to recognize those individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the Department’s educational mission. It is always challenging to narrow the field of candidates down to those who receive an award. All of the faculty and trainees associated with our educational program are talented individuals who are committed to insuring the quality and success of our residents. However, the following faculty, fellows, residents, and interns have demonstrated the highest level of dedication to teaching, mentorship, research, and clinical excellence.

Faculty

The following faculty members received teaching awards for their excellence in contributing to the resident’s educational experience:

  • Vinky Chadha, MD
  • Thomas Corbridge, MD
  • John Pandolfino, MD
  • Gokhan Mutlu, MD
  • Manu Jain, MD
  • Aarati Didwania, MD
  • Jay Paparello, MD
  • Donald Lloyd-Jones, MD

In addition, faculty member Sarah Sutton, MD, received the Patterson Award for her recognition as Teacher of the Year.

Fellows

Sean Koppe. MD, and Sharon Rosenberg, MD, were each presented with an Excellence in Teaching Award to recognize their efforts to teach residents and students in their role as fellows.

Jarret Berry, MD, received the Jameson Research Prize. This award recognizes the fellow who demonstrates outstanding aptitude and achievement in research.

Residents

Reena Kadkade, MD, received the Blunck Award as the most outstanding graduate who has chosen to pursue a career in the field of general internal medicine.

John Norvell, MD, and Priya Kohli, MD, won the Grumet Award. They were selected by the 2006-7 intern class as the best overall teachers in the graduating class.

Tara Sanft, MD, was awarded the Landsberg Award for demonstrating the highest levels of professionalism and leadership as a resident in our Department.

Michael Roth, MD, was presented the Webster Award to recognize his clinical excellence and humanitarianism in medicine.

Interns

Will Bulsiewicz, MD, was awarded this year’s Rambach Award for his overall superior performance as a medical intern.

Congratulations to all of the award winners.

The department thanks all of the faculty members and wishes the best of luck to all of our graduates with their future plans.
