"At Northwestern, I have found excellent faculty interaction, friendly support from my co-residents and a challenging academic environment. Collectively, this affirms my realization that I wouldn't want to train anywhere else." -William Mosley II, MD, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine
Morning report is held every weekday for residents and interns at NMH and the VA. Other activities include a weekly case management conference, Firm Conference, in which the diagnosis and management of current cases are discussed by faculty members, and housestaff members. Daily Noon conferences include a core curriculum conference at the start of each academic year, a faculty lectures series, a 2nd year resident lecture series, M&M, autopsy conference and a clinicopathologic conference presented by selected 3rd year residents. A MKSAP question based board review is held year round that has proven effective at keeping Northwester residents with the highest board pass rate in the country. A journal club is held monthly at VA-Chicago and NMH.
Traditionally, faculty members at Northwestern have enjoyed the opportunity to serve as advisors and are enthusiastic about this opportunity. Mentoring opportunities occur in the second residency year in which each resident is paired with a faculty mentor to prepare a talk regarding a clinical or research question. This lecture is presented to the Department as part of the noon conference series. | | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | 07:30-08:30 | Morning Report | Grand Rounds | Morning Report | Morning Report | Morning Report | 08:30-10:30 | Work Rounds | Work Rounds | Work Rounds | Work Rounds | Work Rounds | 10:30-12:00 | | Teaching Rounds | | | Teaching Rounds | 12:00-01:00 | Core Curriculum | Core Curriculum | Resident Talks | Firm Conference | CPC / M&M / Autopsy Conference | 02:00-03:30 | | | | Radiology Rounds / Teaching Rounds | | 05:00-06:00 | | | Senior Resident Board Review
