A Match Made Without ERAS

On September 22, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, family and friends came to celebrate the wedding of Kabir Julka and Reena Kadkade, class of 2007. Although they both graduated from NU Med in 2004, they didn't begin dating until after working together on nightfloat. Reena and Kabir now reside out in Seattle doing Hospital Medicine and GI respectively.


On September 8, 2007, Lee Lindquist (2003) and Paul Nelson were married. Lee is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Northwestern, and received a K32 Award from the NIH to study health literacy and discharge safety of seniors.

Congratulations to Jay Pandya and Heather Gage (2006) who were married in India this 2007.  As you can see from the photo, they had a wonderful turn out of family and friends from the US for their beautiful event.  Jay is currently a cardiology fellow at Northwestern. Heather started a cardiology fellowhip at Rush in 2008.  4th from the right you can see Luke Carlstrom (2006) and his wife Maria.  Luke is currently fellow in pulmonary/critical care at Washington University in St. Louis.


Shown here is Taylor Ortiz (2007) and his wife Veronica at their wedding.  One the right are wedding guests Priya Kohli and Mike Burke. Taylor is currently a fellow in hematology/oncology at Dana Farber.

Dr. Jameson Recognition Party

On July 13, 2007 the residency program hosted a party for Dr. Jameson to thank him for his contributions as Department Chair and wish him well on his new position as Dean of the medical school. About 100 alumni and faculty members attended the celebration. A highlight was a toast by former chief residents. Each group represented a different endocrine gland, and toasted Dr. Jameson who represented the pituitary. Shown below are: Dan Evans (CMR 2003-4), current Director of the Medicine Subinternship at NMH. Terri Batterman and Micah Eimer (CMRS 2002-3) -- Terri is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Nebraska where she practices hospital medicine and is involved in medical education, while Micah is an Assistant Professor at Northwestern and practices cardiology at Evanston Hospital where he was voted 2007 Teacher of the Year by the IM residents. Phillip Cuculich, Chris Sibley, and Anjum Owaisi (CMRS 2004-5) -- Phill is a cardiology fellow at Washington University (he and his wife Jennifer welcomed a son Bennett Phillip), Chris is a cardiology fellow at Johns Hopkins University, and Anjum recently completed her ID fellowship at Rush in June, 2007 and is now an infectious disease specialist practicing in the Western suburbs of Chicago.

New Additions

Jesse Paul Jorgensen (2003) and wife Carla Jorgensen welcomed baby #4 Anson Erik who joins big brother Cullen and sisters Laken and Arden.  Jesse is in his interventional cardiology fellowship at Emory University.Christopher Tate Sibley (2004) and nephew Hank Mudd. Chris is  a cardiology fellow at Johns Hopkins.
Seth Sweetser (2005), current fellow in Gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic, preparing his daughter Kathryn for the next ACP Jeopardy competition.  Seth, the anchor of our Osler Cup ACP National Champion 2005 team, recreated his success in October 2007 at the American College of Gastroenterology's GI Jeopardy competition and took first place.Jeff Barsuk (2002), Assistant Professor of Medicine, is shown with his wife and new son Benjamin.  Jeff is a hospitalist at NMH and is heavily involved in resident education including simulation-based procedural training of procedures such as central line insertion and thoracentesis.

Jamie Hamilton (2003) and his daughter Zarina. Jamie is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hepatology at Johns Hopkins where his research focuses on the molecular pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Joe Rossi (2004) seen here with his son Paul age 8 months and ready for trick or treating. Joe, Paul and Emma Rossi will be relocating to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in July. Joe completed his cardiology fellowship and served as chief fellow at Northwestern followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship.
Happy Halloween 2007 from the Wilkins family.  Shown here are Ana V Wilkins and 4 week old son Jacob Thomas Wilkins.  When not taking pictures of his adorable family, John Wilkins (2007) is completed a chief medical resident year at Northwestern after which he started his cardiology fellowship at NU in July 2008.
Mike Cuttica (2005) welcomed baby Ella.  She is shown here receiving a welcome home from her big brother.  Mike transitioned as a pulmonary and critical care fellow at the NIH to NU.
